Those joining our Lodges for a respite visit will have full access to all our facilities, activities and care services to match their individual needs. With this pandemic, there could not have been a worse time for my Mum to need the services of a nursing home and it is always a big decision when you have to make it. From the moment she arrived the staff have been wonderful with her and this in itself has been a source of comfort to me knowing she is really getting looked after well. As I said with this pandemic makes thing's like visits that much harder but the staff have been brilliant and have gone out of their way to accommodate the family with a safe visiting policy.

Windmill Lodge offers a safe, secure and responsive environment to support those who are living with dementia. The purpose-built facility has dementia at the forefront of its design, allowing those with cognitive impairments to have a smooth transition into high-quality dementia care. Across our Athena Lodges, we offer respite care to those looking to stay for up to 4 weeks who require residential or nursing care services.

CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. Care designed to provide quality support and comfort for people living with life-limiting conditions. We offer General Nursing Care to those living with long-term illnesses or disabilities who require more complex medical support. Our dedicated nursing team ensures we meet all medical needs and manage conditions professionally through their person-centred approach to care.

Windmill Lodge Care Home
At Windmill Lodge, we look after people as if they were our family. We always treat residents with respect, dignity and compassion, ensuring we find out about each individual’s care, social and wellbeing needs, as well as preferences and life histories. We carried out the inspection to check whether the provider had embedded and sustained improvements that we had noted at our previous inspection. Care plans were robust and reviewed regularly to reflect people’s changing care needs.
From arts and crafts sessions, film nights, quizzes and bingo to book and music clubs – there are a range of activities on offer to enjoy. In partnership with residents, we have developed a full calendar of events and activities which give people the opportunity to take part in our many group and one-to-one activities. Our dedicated approach to care has been reflected in us achieving Beacon Status, the highest possible award given by the Gold Standard Framework for care to people nearing the end of their lives. We continued to seek clarification from the provider to validate evidence found. We requested the provider send us additional evidence after our inspection in relation to training, staff recruitment and auditing processes. We contacted seven healthcare professionals to find out their experiences of working with this provider.
About the service Windmill Lodge Care Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 93 people. At the time of our inspection, there were 85 people using the service. The service supported older people living with dementia and nursing needs. The home is arranged over three floors, each with their own separate adapted facilities. Dementia nursing care is typically for those who require more intensive support and monitoring from medically trained professionals.
Predictions are available in time steps of 1 hour for up to 3 days into the future. Forecast and Superforecast are based on different physical models and therefore may cause divergent predictions. Due to its higher horizontal resolution the Superforecast should be more accurate, especially for locations with a complex topography and local thermal effects. There was a good leadership at the service with set values for inclusion and empowering of people. The staff team had support to carry out their responsibilities effectively and safely.
With a blend of stylish furnishing and accessible facilities, Windmill Lodge aims to encourage independence and choice, allowing residents to make the most out of each day. Our closest station is Brixton, with overland South Eastern services as well as the Underground. We are also a short bus ride from Clapham Junction mainline station, with national rail connections. We believe that building a tight-knit community brings peace of mind, harmony and quality of life to all. All of our bedrooms have en-suites and some have views over our landscaped gardens complete with a water feature. Residents are encouraged to personalise their own room with treasured photographs, ornaments, belongings and small items of furniture if they wish, to create a familiar place in which to spend time.
